The
Area
New Braunfels is a German-Texas town nestled between San Antonio and Austin, just off the Guadalupe and Comal Rivers. Within New Braunfels city limits, you can find Gruene Historic District — full of good food, cute shops and legendary live music spots.
Flying In
San Antonio International Airport is 31 miles south and Austin-Bergstrom International Airport is 48 miles north.
Getting Around
There aren't a lot of public transportation options in the area, so we recommend a rental car. But, of course, there's always Uber and Lyft.
10 minute drive to venueA great option for staying between downtown New Braunfels and Gruene. The Courtyard Marriott River Village is situated near i35 for easy access, but it's also right on the Guadalupe River for lovely river views.
10 minute drive to venueOne of the more budget-friendly, yet really nice options near i35. This Fairfield Inn is perfectly situated between downtown New Braunfels and Gruene.
5 minute drive to venueLocated just a short walk from the historic Gruene Hall, this hotel sits atop a cliff and boasts unique views of the Texas Hill Country.
14 minute drive to venueIf you're looking for a more boutique stay with German-Texas charm to match, this is your spot. It's just a tad farther out from the venue in downtown New Braunfels.
activities
and
food
There's a lot to do in New Braunfels and Gruene, but here's some of our favorites.
Gruene Hall
You can't miss the oldest and most iconic dance halls in Texas. Built in 1878, Gruene Hall still has its original layout with open-air dancing, music stage and outdoor patio. It's where George Strait got his start. You might even see us there.
Float the River
Grab your sunscreen and an inner tube, and float down the nearby Guadalupe or Comal Rivers. Check with local rental companies for the best way to plan your float. It's a time-honored Texas tradition.
Schlitterbahn
Lazy rivers. Waterslides. Water coasters. Whatever your speed, this New Braunfels waterpark is a Texas classic. And it's only a 10 minute drive from our venue.
Black's, Cooper's and Rudy's are names you should get to know for their brisket alone. We'd recommend them in that order, but you can't go wrong trying all three.
Krause's Cafe
A lively outdoor biergarten, bierhalle and restaurant, Krause's is a New Braunfels staple. From schnitzel to brats to potato soup, it's a taste of Germany with a Texas twist.
